B\u00e1sicamente, en ambos casos, el objetivo es provocar contracciones musculares mediante impulsos el\u00e9ctricos. Si esto se produce con la llamada corriente de estimulaci\u00f3n (corriente de baja frecuencia), entonces se denomina tradicionalmente EMS. Los nervios motores se irritan, lo que acaba provocando una contracci\u00f3n muscular.<\/p><p>Si se genera la corriente de media frecuencia modulada, se prefiere hablar de EMA. En este caso, la contracci\u00f3n muscular se desencadena directamente en las c\u00e9lulas musculares sin irritar los nervios. Esto proporciona una percepci\u00f3n m\u00e1s agradable del pulso durante el entrenamiento.<\/p><p>La eficacia y el modo de acci\u00f3n del entrenamiento EMS ya han sido probados en varios estudios realizados por diferentes universidades. Entre ellas se encuentran la Universidad del Deporte de Colonia, la Universidad de Bayreuth y la Universidad de
